The Brethren Decal Proposal and basic guide.

This is an alternative unit badge I am proposing for The Brethren using the new decal system in Mechwarrior Online.  It is based on a logo we used for a short while and I've always thought it was pretty attractive.  I was able to make a pretty good facsimile of our current unit logo but unfortunately that version takes up 5-6 or the 6 decal slots and it is fairly difficult to reproduce.  This logo is much more streamline.  I don't think this symbol should replace our current logo but I think it makes a nice unit battle badge.

It is easily constructed using the skull, triangle lines, and splat decals layered on top of each other.  It is important to remember that decals layer top to bottom so that is very important to remember when places individual components of a layered design.  You can also rotate each decal using the A and D keys which I have done here with the triangle lines element.

You use the mouse wheel to scale each element in the design.

Decals can be placed on almost any part of the mech and they can be rotated to fit the mech at appropriate angles but keep in mine in a layered design each element has to be rotated.  There is no way to combine layers and move or rotate them as a unit.

Here is a larger shot of the finished badge.  Each of these basic elements cost about a dollar worth of MC at the worst purchase rate of 6.95 for 12500 MC.  After you purchase a decal you may use it on any of your mechs at any time so they are really quite a good deal.  Of course the special decals cost a bit more but that is to be expected.  Each element can be colored using the colors you own just like you would for a camo pattern.  The decals do tend to render colors brighter than they will show on your pallet so keep that in mine.

The following are proposals for each raid group.  I used only two decals for each of these logos. which leaves a free decal space if combined with the three decal battle badge I am proposing.

Of course these are not attempts to replicate each raid groups logo.  they should also be considered battle badges.

This badge is my proposal for The Blood Moon Raiders.

This badge is my proposal for Harley's Hellions.

This badge is my proposal for The Storm Bringers.

This badge is my proposal for The Iron Irregulars.

This badge is my proposal for The Brethren Council.

This is my version of our unit logo that takes up 5 slots and with the black background show here all 6 slots.  It is very tedious to do as well compared to the other badges but I wanted to include it to show what the decal system was capable of.

The cost of the decals alone would cost less than $5.00 U.S. although that would not cover the cost of the colors if you don't have them or something close.

I would never consider such badges a requirement I just thought it would be nice to have something for pilots who had the desire to mark their mechs with unit and raid group badges.

Brethren Decal Options

I've been working on some decal ideas for The Brethren using the new decal feature.  Above is a facsimile of our full unit logo.  It cost me about 540 credits not counting the colors.  On this mech I have backed it with a hazard sign painted black to make an all black flag background.  The only things wrong with this option are that it used 5-6 of your 6 decal slots depending on if you use the background and it is fairly complicated to put together.

Here is a much simpler alternative that is based on an older symbol The Brethren used for a while.  I've always thought it was a very attractive option and I think it would make a great battle badge.  It uses only three slots so it doesn't cost as much and it is very easy to construct.

Here is my proposal for the "Blood Moon Raiders" raid group.  I've tried to use only two decals to create all the raid badges.  It would be very complicated to make each group's actual badges but I tried to come up with close representations.

Here is my proposal for the "Harley's Hellions" raid group.  I wish they had a spade symbol and I hope they come up with one in the future but I think this is a pretty good look.

Here is my proposal for the "Storm Bringers" raid group.  This one was the hardest for me to come up with but I think it looks pretty decent.

Here is my proposal for the "Iron's Irregulars" raid group.  I'm not as happy with this one but I think it gets the job done.  Also I don't expect a lot of people to be using this one anyway.

And finally here is my proposal for The Brethren Council.  Our actual symbol is awfully complicated but I think this has a similar feel.
